Corentin Moutet swore seven times in a live interview after his Queen’s first-round win over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. moutet had just finished a three-set match that stretched across two days before the post-match interview turned into a disciplinary issue.
Queen’s match ends 6-7
Moutet beat Mpetshi Perricard 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-5) in London. His first expletive came as he described how he felt when Mpetshi Perricard saved a match point with a 142mph second serve.
When Jenny Drummond asked him not to repeat the word, he did it three more times. Drummond apologised for the language during the interview, and Moutet swore three more times as she tried to continue. The interview was then cut short.

Afterward, Clare Balding also apologised for the language. Moutet later posted, “I was just joking, I hope you guys didn't get offended. Thanks for the love.” He also said he hoped viewers did not get offended.
The episode is likely to lead to an ATP Tour fine for the world number 36, who has never won an ATP Tour title. It also fits a pattern that has already brought sanctions: in 2022, he was defaulted from the Adelaide International for swearing at the umpire after losing the second set against Laslo Djere.
Moutet and previous sanctions
In November 2022, the French Tennis Federation dropped Moutet and he lost his financial aid because of his behaviour. Its statement at the time said, “We cannot condone this type of behaviour. We ask our players and coaches for an exemplary attitude,” and that history now hangs over another outburst on a public broadcast.
For Moutet, the immediate fallout is simple: a win at Queen’s was followed by an interview that did not survive the language. The match result stands, but the post-match spotlight now shifts to the likely penalty and the repeat of a problem tennis has already punished before.
