Chase Stokes appears in the first official trailer for Outer Banks season 5, shown watching in horror as Carlacia Grant's Cleo blows up his van; the moment anchors the show's final- season publicity push.
Chase Stokes' Trailer Moment
August 20 is when Netflix said the final season will debut, and the streamer released the official trailer, synopsis and first-look photos the same day to mark the rollout.
Netflix's August 20 Drop
10 episodes will arrive as a single binge drop rather than the split rollout used for Season 4, which premiered in October 2024 and was issued in two batches four weeks apart; Netflix has been pulling away from the split-season model, leaving Bridgerton as the only current scripted title still using that strategy.
Outer Banks 10-Episode Drop
"Revenge," Kiara said in the final seconds of the Season 4 finale, and the official synopsis frames that vow: the Pogues are at their breaking point after JJ's loss in Morocco, have lost the Blue Crown, and face Chandler Groff still at large while Dalia and the Corsairs close in and the Kooks leave no home to return to.
Episode 502 first-look photos place the gang, including Rafe, in a European setting; Episode 503 images show the Pogues surrendering and behind bars but also returning to the Outer Banks in that same episode, and Episodes 505-508 include additional adventures and the Twinkie explosion teased in the images.
October 2024 set the immediate precedent—Season 4's split release—and May's Netflix upfront presentation offered a different teaser that showed the Pogues in custody and attending a hearing in what appeared to be Croatia, with the Pogues ultimately extradited and separated: John B., Sarah, Kiara and Pope sent to OBX while Cleo was shown heading to the Bahamas and Pope receiving an arraignment notice on Kildare Island after cutting an ankle monitor.
Chandler Groff's arc remains central: the synopsis and trailer show the Pogues confronting him and paying tribute to JJ after he was last seen headed to Portugal, yet the season simultaneously positions John B., Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo to rely on an uneasy alliance with Rafe as they race to reclaim their future and win the freedom they have been chasing since the beginning.
Episode 503 and the surrounding images make clear the final season threads custody, extradition and a return home into a single narrative push — but how the Pogues end up moving from the European jail setup back to the Outer Banks in Season 5 is not fully explained.
