Halle Bailey joins cast of animated feature Groove Tails ahead of Annecy

Halle Bailey has joined the voice cast of Groove Tails, the animated feature from Imprint Entertainment and Bob Logan that is being introduced at Annecy. The film is already in production and is expected to finish animation in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Her addition gives the project another name with broad recognition as producers prepare to present it to buyers and the international animation community at the upcoming Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The announcement lands now because the cast is being rolled out while the movie is still being built, not after it is finished.

Groove Tails is based on a screenplay by Johnny Mack and is set in New York. It is billed as a four-quadrant, music-driven animated film with dance throughout, built around an enthusiastic young mouse who dreams of becoming a world-famous dancer. After his father dismisses those ambitions, he heads off with an unlikely group of misfits, and together they have to find their own rhythms while trying to save the only home they have ever known.

The cast reveal names several performers, but Bailey’s role has not been disclosed. That missing detail leaves the focus on the scale of the voice ensemble rather than on which character she will play, and it also underscores how early the rollout still is for a film that will not complete animation for more than a year after this introduction.

Logan described Groove Tails as a celebration of individuality, perseverance and the universal language of music, and said the cast brings energy, humor and heart to the characters. That is the promise being sold at Annecy: a family movie with polish, movement and star power, even if the final frame is still a long way off.
