Aberdeen have agreed a deal with Brentford for Tony Yogane, and the 20-year-old has been given permission to travel north to finish the move. The winger is now closing in on a return to the Scottish game after a season that put him firmly on the radar.
Tony Yogane and Aberdeen
The move adds another piece to Aberdeen’s summer work while the club remains in pre-season training. Yogane is expected to arrive as part of that rebuild after spending last season on loan at Dundee, where he played 41 games and stood out in the second half of the campaign.
That run is why Aberdeen moved now. He offered enough over a full season to make the case for a permanent deal, and Brentford have agreed terms that include a number of add-ons, leaving the full value of the move tied to those extra payments.
Steven Pressley and Brentford
Steven Pressley had wanted to take Yogane back, but said it was unlikely because of how well he had done. That leaves Aberdeen as the club that has acted first and turned interest into an agreement, with permission already in place for the player to travel north and complete the formalities.
The path to this point runs back to 2022, when Brentford bought him from Sheffield Wednesday. Yogane also had a loan spell at Exeter City, but his most productive recent spell came at Dundee, and it is that form Aberdeen have moved to secure.
Brora Rangers and the schedule
Aberdeen’s wider summer remains active. The club head to the Netherlands for their pre-season camp, and they begin their campaign in the Premier Sports Cup against Brora Rangers, Queen's Park, Queen of the South and Kelty Hearts. Yogane’s arrival fits into that stretch of work, with the deal now at the stage where the final travel step is the only thing left before it lands.
The open issue is the fee structure. Brentford are due add-ons, but the main price has not been set out, so the shape of the deal will only become clear once the extra payments and final terms are laid out.
