Sky News reported that an 18-year-old woman has died six days after being seriously injured in Chalkwell Park, Southend-on-Sea, in an incident involving a loading vehicle at about 00:30 BST on Saturday. Essex Police said officers are still asking anyone with information to come forward.
The woman was taken to hospital after the incident and later died. Police said detectives have continued their inquiries since Saturday, when a cordon was put in place.
Chalkwell Park incident
Essex Police said a group of people were reported to have taken "taken unauthorised control of a small articulated loading vehicle" before the woman was hurt. Police also said a large number of young people were in the park at the time.
An 18-year-old man from Westcliff-on-Sea and a 17-year-old boy from Leigh-on-Sea were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Both were bailed until September.
Essex Police appeal
After the woman's death, Essex Police said: "She was taken to hospital but, sadly, has since died and officers are continuing to support her family." A police spokesman added: "We need anyone who has information and who we've not already spoken with to come forward".
The case now turns on what police have not yet set out in full: how the vehicle was taken, how the incident unfolded in Chalkwell Park, and what investigators recover from witness accounts before the file moves on.
