The setup gives the team one fixed hotel and one fixed field. U.S. Soccer has the squad staying at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel and training at Great Park Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine, a bus ride of about 30 minutes between the two.
For Pulisic, the plan is more specific than a hotel name and a practice site. He will train in Irvine and rest at the Ritz-Carlton before and after sessions and matches, while Mauricio Pochettino manages a base that keeps the group close to its work area rather than spreading it across the state.
June 25 in California
The date that matters most is June 25. That is when the USMNT is scheduled to play its last group game against Türkiye, and it is also the day the team is booked in through at the hotel. The stay lines up with the group stage, but the schedule can stretch the California stay much longer if the USMNT keeps advancing.
That is the built-in friction in the plan. The hotel reservation stops on June 25, yet the path through Group D could keep the team on the west coast for the round of 32 in Santa Clara, then back to Seattle for the round of 16, and back to Inglewood for the quarterfinals. Only the semifinals would send the team to Arlington, Texas, and a run to the end could finish at the World Cup final on July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
SoFi Stadium and Seattle
The group schedule makes California the center of gravity. The United States will play two group games at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, with Türkiye and Paraguay both on that field, while the middle group fixture comes against Australia at Lumen Field in Seattle.
