Dorset Echo reports that five people were arrested after an 18-year-old man died following an injury near Poole Hospital. Dorset Police said the man was found in Longfleet Road shortly before 02:15 BST and later died after treatment for a suspected stab wound.
The arrests are the latest step in a murder investigation that has left a cordon in place in Dale Close. Police are asking anyone in the Dale Close or Longfleet Road area in the early hours, especially anyone with dashcam or home CCTV footage, to come forward.
Det Supt Neil Third
Det Supt Neil Third said the victim's family had been told about the latest developments. He added: "We have informed the victim's family of these latest developments and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time."
Third also said: "We do not underestimate the concern and upset that an incident of this nature will have in the community." He said police had "acted quickly in making arrests and progressing our investigation."
Dale Close and Longfleet Road
The force said the man may have sustained his injuries during an incident in Dale Close before being taken to Longfleet Road in a car. That leaves the sequence of events split between two nearby streets: one where the injury may have happened, and another where the injured man was found and taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.
Five people have been arrested in connection with the case. Dorset Police said a 20-year-old man from Poole, two men from Bournemouth aged 36 and 38, a 22-year-old man from London and a 22-year-old man of Bletchley in Buckinghamshire were detained on suspicion of murder or assisting an offender.
Witnesses and CCTV
Police are still seeking witnesses and footage from the early hours. Anyone with dashcam or home CCTV footage from Dale Close or Longfleet Road has been asked to get in touch, as officers continue enquiries around the cordon and the route that led from the injury to Poole Hospital.
