Liverpool prepare £86m Yan Diomande bid, Fernandez Pardo race

Liverpool are preparing an £86 million package for Yan Diomande after an initial approach for the RB Leipzig winger was turned down. The move comes as Liverpool look for a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, and it has put Fernandez Pardo back into the conversation as Liverpool weigh alternatives.

Yan Diomande, 19, scored 12 goals and added nine assists in 33 games last season. Liverpool believe that level of output justifies a major bid, but RB Leipzig are holding their line and pushing the winger to sign a new contract.

RB Leipzig’s valuation

RB Leipzig are seeking a fee closer to €130m, or £112m, before they would consider a sale. That gap leaves Liverpool with a choice between moving closer to Leipzig’s number or turning further toward other targets, including Yankuba Minteh and Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

Liverpool have also made more progress with Roc Nation Sports than Paris Saint-Germain have, according to the information available to them. That advantage has not changed Leipzig’s position, and it has not yet turned the approach into a deal.

Liverpool’s rebuild after Salah

The scale of Liverpool’s interest fits a wider spending pattern. Florian Wirtz cost £116m in 2025, and Alexander Isak moved from Newcastle United for £125m in September 2025, so an £86m offer for Diomande would still sit among Liverpool’s biggest moves.

Mohamed Salah said in March 2026 that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, and Liverpool have treated that departure as a trigger for a major attacking rebuild. Yan Diomande’s age, output, and contract position make him the kind of forward Liverpool are trying to secure before another club forces the price higher.

Fernandez Pardo as fallback

If Liverpool do not bridge the valuation gap for Diomande, Fernandez Pardo and Minteh become the most direct alternatives in the same search. Liverpool have already settled one deal in this cycle, with a £34.5m agreement for Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but the Diomande pursuit is the one that would reshape the next phase of the rebuild.

For now, the market point is simple: Liverpool have shown they are willing to move early and aggressively, RB Leipzig have shown they will not sell cheaply, and the next step depends on whether Liverpool decide to meet the number Leipzig have set.
