Liverpool Target Sadio Mané Link in €100million Yan Diomande Chase

Liverpool have intensified their pursuit of Yan Diomande with a package approaching €100million, and the chase now sits around a 19-year-old forward whose stock rose again at the World Cup. Sadio Mané is the headline link, but the real story is the scale of Liverpool’s offer and the gap between what they are prepared to pay and what RB Leipzig want.

Liverpool are willing to put forward a package approaching €100million for Diomande. That latest move would not be accepted by RB Leipzig, who want to extend his contract instead of letting him go. The club have also started to study other options if this move cannot be completed.

The transfer picture is not one-sided. Paris Saint-Germain remain in contention, but they have yet to send a bid to RB Leipzig and are behind Liverpool on the personal terms offer to Diomande. Liverpool’s edge at this stage is not just the size of the package; it is the position they have built while the other major challenger has still not acted.

Yan Diomande at the World Cup

Diomande has given Liverpool a difficult player to price. He missed only one Bundesliga game this season, scored 12 goals and added nine assists in 33 league appearances. RB Leipzig finished third and qualified for the Champions League, which only strengthens their hand in talks.

On Sunday, he started Ivory Coast’s first World Cup game against Ecuador and was the most impactful and eye-catching player on the pitch in a 1-0 win. He took more touches, attempted more take-ons and created more chances than any of his Ivory Coast team-mates. As debut appearances at the World Cup go, Yan Diomande could not have hoped for much more.

RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain

The market around him has moved quickly. Barely 18 months ago, Diomande was playing for DME Sports Academy in Florida. By the end of the 2024-25 campaign he had played just 500 minutes of football for Leganes before RB Leipzig committed €20m for his services, and that jump explains why Leipzig now want a fee above €130m before changing their stance.

Liverpool’s current thinking leaves them with two clear paths: push toward the level Leipzig demand, or move to one of the other forward options they are considering, including Yankuba Minteh, Said El Mala of FC Koln and Matias Fernandez-Pardo. For now, the main thread remains Diomande himself — a player Liverpool value enough to test the market, but not yet enough to close the gap on RB Leipzig’s price.
