MorningStar Farms issued a product recall on June 18 for select frozen Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets and Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties after customer complaints about possible plastic contamination. The recalled products were sold in the United States, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica, and the company told buyers not to eat them.
The recall covers MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets in 10.5-ounce bags with UPC 000 28989 10110 5 and Better If Used Before dates of July 7 and 8, 2027. It also covers MorningStar Farms Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties in 8-ounce bags with UPC 000 28989 10094 8 and Better If Used Before dates of July 5, 6 and 7, 2027.

The products were distributed to grocery stores nationwide, but no other MORNINGSTAR FARMS brand products are affected. Customers who bought the recalled items should discard them and contact MorningStar Farms Consumer Affairs for a full refund.
A Mars spokesperson told News that the company moved quickly to investigate after learning of the complaints. The spokesperson said, "At MORNINGSTAR FARMS, protecting the safety and wellbeing of our consumers is our highest priority. As soon as we learned of a potential issue, we moved quickly to investigate and identify any foods produced that might be impacted. We have addressed the issue and enhanced our quality control procedures to prevent a similar situation occurring in the future."
MorningStar Farms Consumer Affairs
The same statement said "no injuries have been reported" in connection with the recall. MorningStar Farms Consumer Affairs can be reached by calling 800-962-0120 or texting 877-453-5837 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
For anyone who still has the bags, the practical step is simple: do not serve them, discard them, and use the refund contact if the package matches the UPC and date codes. The remaining question is how the plastic entered the products in the first place.
