Kylie Jenner Pushes Ray-ban Meta as $299 Glasses Hit Sale

Kylie Jenner put Ray-Ban Meta in the spotlight this week. The glasses are now on sale starting at $299. She posted, "Cutest night with @metaglasses! My meta glasses are out now," from a party in New York.

That price puts Meta’s glasses far below Jenner’s limited Starfire edition, which is priced at $399. It also gives Meta a lower entry point than Google Glass once had in the celebrity-heavy rollout that followed Sergey Brin and Diane von Furstenberg in 2013.

New York Party, New Sale

Jenner celebrated with Mark Zuckerberg in New York and used Instagram to signal that the product is available now. For buyers, that turns the glasses from a concept into a retail choice, with the base model priced below her own limited Starfire edition.

Meta designed the glasses with EssilorLuxottica, Ray-Ban’s parent company. The partnership matters because it puts a fashion brand name on hardware that has to compete on looks as much as on features.

Google Glass Echoes

The comparison with Google Glass is hard to avoid. Google Glass received celebrity promotions, Vogue spreads, and praise as one of the "Best Inventions of the Year," yet it flopped a decade ago.

A viral comment called the glasses "cybertrucks for the face." Another user wrote, "Mass surveillance predator glasses yesssss," on Jenner’s Instagram. That reaction shows the product is entering the market with publicity and suspicion at the same time.

What comes next is whether Jenner’s post and New York appearance move sales or soften the backlash. The launch price is public. The real test is whether buyers treat Ray-Ban Meta as wearable tech or as another smart-glasses stunt.
