Ripple Wins June 23 CASP Approval for Xrp Ledger

Ripple got preliminary approval on June 23 from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier of Luxembourg for a Crypto Asset Service Provider license under Markets in Crypto Assets. The move gives Ripple a regulated route to market services across 30 countries in the European Economic Area through the XRP Ledger-linked business it is building in Europe.

Alex Carchidi on Ripple's footprint

Alex Carchidi said Ripple now has one of the broadest regulated footprints in crypto, and that is not just a slogan. Ripple recently secured an Electronic Money Institution license, so the company now has two permissions that reach beyond a single national market.

EU market access and RLUSD

That matters because the license is Ripple's, not XRP's, and the token only benefits if activity routes through the XRPL at scale. Ripple USD now has a lane into Europe, and the XRPL in the backend could capture a slice of capital flow from RLUSD distribution using Ripple's payments stack.

June 23 before July 1

The timing is tight. About 210 of the 1,200-plus pre-MiCA operators had converted to full CASP status with the application deadline approaching on July 1, while assets such as Tether's USDT stablecoin are among those shut out of regulated EU venues.

The open question is what exact operational steps remain before Ripple can turn preliminary approval into full CASP status across the European Economic Area.
