Viktor Hovland took the lead at the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship with a 6-under 64 in round 3, then flipped the board with a birdie at 18 as Scottie Scheffler made bogey. The late swing set up a Sunday pairing between Hovland and Scheffler.

Hovland got the move started with his approach at 18, stuffing it to 6 feet before burying the birdie. Scheffler's bogey on the same hole turned a close chase into a two-shot swing at the top.

Akshay Bhatia and Patrick Cantlay are tied for third at 15 under. Anyone outside that final pairing would need a historic final round to win.

Sam Burns and Clark

Sam Burns is tied for T10 heading into Sunday after three clean ballstriking rounds, but his putter has not heated up. That leaves him in the group chasing from behind rather than driving the pace at TPC River Highlands.

Clark shot a 5-under 65 in his third round after winning the U.S. Open, and his position has been helped by a hot putter. Even so, he said, "I’m running on fumes. I’m looking forward to next week. I’m not going to touch a club."

Keegan Bradley in 2023

The scoring should keep moving. Soft conditions and little wind are still producing birdie chances, and the winner is expected to pass the 23-under par mark that Keegan Bradley set in 2023.

That leaves Hovland and Scheffler with the cleanest path into Sunday and the tightest margin to manage. With the leaderboard compressed behind them, the final pairing has a simple job: hold position while the rest of the field tries to force its way into a race that already looks built for two.
