Edwin De Los Santos met Jose Valenzuela in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 08 on June 28 at The Chelsea in Las Vegas. De Los Santos was looking for a second victory over Valenzuela, giving the rematch a sharper edge than a routine headliner.
Las Vegas main event
The card opened with its prelims at 5pm ET and 2pm PT, then moved to the main card at 8pm ET and 5pm PT. The entire event streamed live on Paramount+ in the United States, putting the rematch in front of viewers from the start of the night through the final bell.
This fight carried the sort of built-in friction that only comes from a return meeting. De Los Santos and Valenzuela were back together in a bout that asked a simple question: whether the second meeting would settle more than the first one did.
Ancajas and Trinidad
Omar Trinidad handled Jerwin Ancajas by unanimous decision in the co-main event, and the scores were 97-93 across the board. Ancajas kept fighting after Trinidad rocked him in the final round, while Tony Weeks watched closely.
That sequence left no doubt about the pace of the back half of the card. Trinidad’s margin on every scorecard gave the co-main event a clean result, while Ancajas was still pressing forward late despite the damage.
Sandoval stuns Brandun Lee
Cain Sandoval also delivered a result that changed his own recent line. He beat Brandun Lee by majority decision in a 10-round welterweight matchup, even though Lee entered at 30-0.
Sandoval had lost to Julian Rodriguez at Zuffa Boxing 01, so this win added a useful rebound to his ledger. The June 28 card then closed with the same pattern it opened with: a live boxing night in Las Vegas built around a rematch, a close scorecard, and fighters trying to move their own story forward.
