Lucas Paquetá and AC Milan Seal €70 million Goncalo Ramos Deal

Lucas Paquetá headlines a transfer market shift as AC Milan agreed a club-record fee in the region of €70 million to sign Goncalo Ramos from PSG. The 25-year-old striker is set to move on after Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United all registered genuine interest.

Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan

The Rossoneri have moved first and the size of the fee says why. At £60.4 million, the deal sets a new benchmark for AC and sends Ramos to San Siro as the first signing of the Ruben Amorim era there.

For Milan, the move is not just about adding a forward. It is a club-record outlay for a player described as “elite”, and it comes after his time in Ligue Un did not match that billing in full.

Tottenham Lose Their Striker Chase

Tottenham were one of the clubs approached as an option for Ramos this summer, and they had genuine interest in him alongside Chelsea and Manchester United. They have now missed out on a deal for a striker in the same window.

That leaves Tottenham still pushing to bring in a new forward after Richarlison and Dominic Solanke have struggled up top. They have already added Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka in the transfer window, while interest in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes has also featured in their summer business.

The next move for Tottenham is likely to come in the same market they have been working in all summer: another search for a forward after Ramos chose AC Milan instead. For a side trying to avoid back-to-back 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League, missing out on a target of this size sharpens the pressure on the rest of the window.
