Ruby Rose said a fall in her own pool sent her straight to the hospital after she slipped on the ledge, hit a wall, and broke multiple ribs. She said the injury landed on the right side of her ribs and left her facing many weeks of recovery.
On June 29, the 40-year-old said she had broken the bottom two ribs and needed to breathe into a machine. She later added, “Straight to the hospital, did not pass go or collect 200 dollars,” a line that made the trip sound as immediate as the pain.
June 29 on Instagram Story and Threads
Ruby Rose first posted the injury update on Instagram Story, where she wrote, “What a bloody Monday” and “RIP to my ribs, and to the rest of my summer.” On Threads, she said, “I’ve just broken two ribs, falling into my own pool backwards,” and asked followers, “Send good book and show recommendations.”
The specific details matter because she did not describe a vague strain or bruise. She said she broke the bottom two ribs, had to breathe into a machine, and expected the recovery to last “many weeks,” which points to an interruption that will stretch well beyond the day of the accident.
Batwoman injury in 2019
Rose tied the pool injury to a much more severe setback from 2019 while filming Batwoman. She said she broke a rib and her neck, suffered two herniated discs during a stunt, and needed emergency surgery after an injury that nearly severed her spinal cord.
She also said that during Batwoman she returned to work the next day, a comparison that makes the new injury sound less dramatic on paper but still serious enough to keep her out of normal routine for weeks. “I’m sorry, but what in the f--king dissociation and self abandonment did I do, to return to work on batwoman, the day after breaking my rib and neck,” she wrote.
For now, the practical takeaway is simple: Rose has already been treated, she expects a long recovery, and she is turning to followers for book and show recommendations while she heals. The next useful update will be whether those weeks shorten or stretch, but the immediate story is that she will not be moving through summer at full speed.
