Andre Onana Loan Deal At Trabzonspor Nears Completion With €1.5million Fee

Andre Onana loan deal at Trabzonspor moved a step closer on Thursday afternoon when he signed the paperwork for a season-long return. The announcement is due within 24 hours, with Manchester United set to collect up to €1.5million if the agreed bonuses are met.

Onana And Trabzonspor

The deal is a straight loan, with no option or obligation to buy. That leaves Onana on course to return to Old Trafford next summer with one year left on his contract, rather than leaving United permanently.

Trabzonspor will cover the majority of his wages, and United are hopeful that performance-related clauses can push that toward full wage coverage over the season. The fee rises if Trabzonspor win the domestic league or qualify for the Champions League, so the final cost depends on results rather than a fixed loan figure.

Manchester United And Senne Lammens

Onana had wanted to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place, but the club told his camp he would not be able to dislodge Senne Lammens. There was also a view that he would not fit the No. 2 role and was on too much money for that job, which left the loan as the cleanest option.

United signed him from Inter Milan in 2023 for £47million, and the move now sends him back to Trabzonspor after a successful loan spell last season. That spell ended with victory in the domestic cup and qualification for the Europa League, so this return gives Trabzonspor a goalkeeper they already know and gives United a deal structure that can still return value next summer.
