Felix Auger-Aliassime wins 7-1 tie-break on Centre Court

Felix Auger-Aliassime moved ahead on Centre Court at Wimbledon 2026, taking the first-set tie-break 7-1 after he and Michael Zheng had been level at 3-3. The third seed turned a tight opening set into a clear edge before the live report paused.

That 7-6 (7-1) set score gave Auger-Aliassime the only completed set visible in the report. Zheng, an American qualifier, had already reached this stage by beating Britain's Cameron Norrie in the first round.

The set was still on serve when the pair reached 3-3, and the breaker was the first separation in a match that had been close through the early games. Once it reached the tie-break, Auger-Aliassime controlled it immediately and closed it 7-1.

For a seeded player, that kind of finish changes the shape of the match without requiring a long rally count. He now carries the first-set lead into the next phase, while Zheng has to chase the scoreboard after coming through qualifying and taking out Norrie.

Coco Gauff reaches fourth round

The live Wimbledon 2026 roundup also carried Coco Gauff through to the fourth round for a fourth time after she beat Liu. She will play Belinda Bencic next, and Bencic brings the weight of her 2021 Olympic gold medal into that meeting.

Gauff’s own Wimbledon line has a limit attached to it: she has never gone further than the fourth round. She first announced herself here in 2019 by beating Venus Williams en route to that same stage, and she said after the win over Liu, "I’m glad I didn’t let the second set derail me". She added, "I don’t think I’ll be too tired [after back-to-back three-set matches], it’s grass so you’re not playing too many long points. I’m still young, I honestly don’t really wake up sore after a match. I’m not playing my best tennis yet, but I definitely feel more confident after the last two matches, and Belinda will be tough too."

Whether Auger-Aliassime turns his first-set edge into a match win is the unanswered piece left by the visible live text. For now, the story is the same one the scoreboard showed on Centre Court: a 3-3 opening set, then a one-sided breaker that put the third seed in control.
