Lech Poznań has set FK Železiarne Podbrezová as its first sparring opponent in the training camp for the new season, under the RB Salzburg vs Górnik Zabrze banner. The meeting gives Lech its first preseason check against a side that finished sixth last campaign.

FK Železiarne Podbrezová is not arriving as filler opposition. The club reached the Slovak top flight after the 2013/14 season, stayed there until 2019, then returned to Nike Liga after three years.
That path has been steady rather than flashy. In recent seasons, the team reached the championship group and the Slovak Cup semi-finals, which is a strong return for a club operating on a skromny budget.
Stefan Markulik and Kamil Wilczek
Stefan Markulik has coached the side for two seasons, and Kamil Wilczek joined the staff at the beginning of the year. That pairing is part of a squad structure that also includes players with direct production: Radek Silek scored 17 goals last campaign, and Roland Galcik scored 14.
The club’s roots go back further than its current league run. FK was founded in 1920, while the first football matches in the Podbrezová region were played in 1905.
