The Seattle fireworks show returns this Saturday, and FOX 13 Seattle will air it live as Seafair’s new official broadcast partner. About 45,000 people are expected to gather between Gas Works Park and Lake Union Park.
The broadcast is part of a summer lineup that FOX 13 Seattle will televise and stream, starting with the Seafair 4th of July fireworks show. For readers planning to watch in person, the show is not a simple walk-in at every viewing point.
Gas Works Park entry rules
Attendees planning to watch from Gas Works Park must secure a free ticket online at seafair.org to enter. Gates open at 3 p.m., and free tickets are valid for entry until 8 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
Premium reserved seating is available for purchase at both parks, and that option extends the Gas Works Park entry window until 10 p.m. The practical difference is simple: people without a ticket cannot rely on arriving late and getting in, even though the fireworks are public.
Seafair summer schedule
Last week, Seafair announced on Good Day Seattle that FOX 13 Seattle is the festival’s new official broadcast partner. The deal also covers Seafair’s three signature events this summer, giving viewers a way to follow the fireworks without being on site.
Seafair’s next listed events come later in the month and into August. On July 25, the Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade returns along the Seattle waterfront for the second consecutive year, with the Torchlight Run set for 6 p.m. and the main parade featuring more than 100 units. During the first weekend of August, the Boeing Seafair Air Show and Apollo Mechanical Cup Hydroplane Races return to Lake Washington.
For Saturday, the main decision for anyone heading to Gas Works Park is to get the free ticket early or buy reserved seating. That is the difference between a planned entry and hoping for space after the gate window closes.
