Magic Weekend will return to Hill Dickinson Stadium in 2027 after 82,925 watched seven games across two days this weekend. The total was the biggest in Magic Weekend history, and it gives Hill Dickinson Stadium another date with Super League’s showpiece in 2027.
Rhodri Jones on the return
Rhodri Jones, the managing director of RL commercial, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be returning next year,” and added: “The date has changed, owing to the stadium's availability, however we are confident Magic Weekend 2027 will be even bigger and better again.” That leaves the event in a slightly different slot, but still on course for 1 and 2 May.
Hill Dickinson Stadium crowd record
The strongest number came at Everton FC’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, where 77,442 attended the six matches played there. Sunday's crowd of 42,903 at Everton was Magic’s biggest single-day attendance, surpassing the previous mark of 40,871 at Newcastle in 2015.
The wider weekend total was lifted further by 5,483 at Castres, where Toulouse Olympique and Catalans Dragons played out French Magic. Put together, Hill Dickinson Stadium and Castres delivered 82,925, breaking the previous Magic Weekend record of 68,276 set at Newcastle’s St James' Park in 2016.
Super League's record weekend
For Super League, the return to Hill Dickinson Stadium is more than a venue switch. The weekend delivered the highest overall Magic attendance on record, the biggest single-day crowd, and a return booking for 2027 after the stadium handled the event across two days without losing scale.
The practical detail for fans is simple: Magic Weekend 2027 is set for 1 and 2 May, and the event is already back at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The attendance figures now set the target for the next visit.
