Mauricio Jenkins unveils Pringles Pop Dog Buns in three flavors

Mauricio Jenkins says Pringles pop dog buns are taking the brand’s “Once You Pop” idea to the center of the plate. The limited-time buns come in three flavors and will be released in two July drops, giving buyers one first chance and one return chance tied to National Hot Dog Day.

Jenkins, the Salty Snacks Brand & Content Lead at Mars North America, said, “This summer, we’re bringing the ‘Once You Pop’ experience to the center of the plate!” He also said the company wanted to take something everyone knows and completely flip it into an exciting new snackable experience.

Three flavors in Pringles cans

The new Pop Dog Buns come in Sour Cream & Onion, BBQ, and Honey Mustard, and each version arrives in a classic Pringles can. Pringles also says the buns measure around 7.5 inches, so they are built as a full-size bun rather than a novelty bite.

That size and packaging suggest a product designed for an actual hot dog build, not just a one-off flavor stunt. The company is pairing the buns with all new potato-based buns infused with popular potato chip flavors, which makes the offer more specific than a standard flavored bread release.

July 8 and July 15 ET

The first drop goes live on Wednesday, July 8. A second chance comes on Wednesday, July 15 at 12 p.m. ET, which lands on National Hot Dog Day.

Pringles is tying the release to a purchase condition: the Pop Dog Buns are free with the purchase of a Pringles Three-Pack that features the same flavors. The Three-Pack costs $6.97, so the offer is built as a bundle rather than a regular shelf item.

Once You Pop Market

Jenkins also said, “With our new ‘Once You Pop’ campaign, our mission is to continually deliver the unexpected to our fans, which is why we’re reimagining ordinary, bland buns and transforming them into an extraordinarily flavorful experience fit for our iconic cans.” He added, “Trust me, that extra Pringles flavor truly makes these buns pop because… Once You Pop, The Pop Dogs Don’t Stop.”

The buns are described as soft and chewy, and they are said to hold up even with a lot of toppings. At the same time, the bags can be smelled before they are opened, which suggests the flavor profile is strong before the first bite and may shape how people use them at the table.

Pringles sent a pack of the chips and their corresponding buns ahead of the announcement, but the most practical detail for buyers is still the same: the offer is limited, tied to two July windows, and attached to the Pringles Three-Pack. For anyone planning to get them, the clock matters more than the concept.
