Arsenal have completed the permanent signing of Switzerland international midfielder Géraldine Reuteler, adding a seasoned option to Renée Slegers' midfield group ahead of the new season.
Reuteler arrives from Eintracht Frankfurt, where she spent the summer of 2018 onward and built a strong resume in Germany. She made 184 appearances for the club, scoring 54 goals and adding 44 assists, giving Arsenal a player with proven production as well as consistency at a high level.
What Reuteler brings to Arsenal
At 27, Reuteler already has extensive international experience. She made her senior Switzerland debut in 2017 and has gone on to earn 91 appearances for her country, scoring 17 goals. She has also represented Switzerland at the last three Women’s European Championships.
Her arrival adds another technically gifted and experienced midfielder to Arsenal’s squad. Clare Wheatley described Reuteler as a long-term target who brings experience at both club and international level, while Slegers highlighted her technical quality, intelligence and athleticism.
Reuteler’s own words underline the appeal of the move. She said Arsenal is one of the best clubs in the world and that she is excited to test herself in the WSL. She also said she is looking forward to walking out at the Emirates in front of supporters and wants to add to the club’s history and success.
A player with a strong track record
Reuteler’s career has moved steadily upward. Born in April 1999, she began with FC Stans before joining FC Luzern in 2008. She made her senior debut in the Swiss top-flight at the age of 15, won the Swiss Women’s Player of the Year award in 2024, and helped Switzerland reach the quarter-finals on home soil in 2025.
That combination of experience, output and international pedigree explains why Arsenal moved for her. The transfer gives the club another player who has already performed in pressure moments and who now gets the chance to do it in the WSL.
