The sapper operation on ul. Trzemeskiej in Wrocław ended on Tuesday at 10:30 after crews removed unexploded ordnance from the period of World War II. The safety zone was then reopened, and residents could return home.
The standard preventive zone covered about 3000 people. That scale made the morning operation the main local issue for anyone living near ul. Trzemeskiej, even before the area was fully cleared.
Szkoła Podstawowa nr 4
Most residents left the designated danger zone on their own before 8:30. For people who could not arrange shelter themselves, the city set up an evacuation point at Szkoła Podstawowa nr 4 at ul. Zachodniej, where about 120 people stayed during the military operation and received necessary support.
The explosive materials were packed onto a specialist vehicle and taken to a military training ground, where they will be neutralized. Authorities said there is no longer an immediate threat to human health and life at the find location.
ul. Trzemeskiej and ul. Legnickiej
Roadblocks by Police and Straż Miejska were being removed gradually around ul. Trzemeskiej, ul. Legnickiej and nearby streets. Wrocław public transport had been running on diversions during the operation, and standard road organization plus regular tram and bus schedules were being restored as the area reopened.
The ordnance was found during earthworks on Szczepin, which is why the response moved from a construction find to a citywide safety procedure. For residents, the practical result was simple by late morning: access returned, the shelter point had served its role, and movement around the area started to normalize.
