Cade Onder says Black Ops 2 On Ps5 is heading toward a smaller trophy list than the original release. Trophy lists for Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 have appeared online, and the changes point to cut support for several older modes.
PS3 trophies lose old modes
The lists are largely identical to the PS3 versions, but several trophies tied to Theater mode, League Play, and winning wager matches are gone. Theater mode let players watch replays of previous matches and move the camera around, while wager matches centered on in-game currency and included Gun Game and One in the Chamber.
Those removals matter because they map to features, not just checklist items. If a trophy tied to a mode disappears, that usually signals a shift in what the re-release is built to support, especially for players tracking completion goals across PS4 and PS5.
Activision keeps campaign, multiplayer, Zombies
Activision has said both games will include campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies modes, which narrows the question to side content and legacy features. For players moving from PS3 to PS4 or PS5, that means the core package survives even as some of the older competitive and replay systems appear to have been trimmed back.
The trophy changes also complicate a cleaner reading: it is possible some removed features still exist and only the trophies were cut, but that looks less likely when the missing list clusters around Theater mode, League Play, and wager-match trophies. Cade Onder’s report points to a re-release that keeps the headline modes while pruning the parts most tied to older progression systems.
Sometime in July for both Black Ops
Activision has not set the exact release date, but both Black Ops games are expected to drop on modern PlayStation consoles sometime in July. Players who care about full trophy runs should look closely at the final lists before they buy, because the apparent removals are the first sign that the PS4 and PS5 versions will not mirror the PS3 originals feature for feature.
