Brett Harris made the perfect start to life with Worcester, hitting a grand slam in his first game for the club after arriving from the Athletics in the Ben Hansen trade. It was the kind of debut that gives a team an extra infield option and a timely boost in one swing.
The move had already added depth to Worcester, with Harris bringing Major League experience and versatility into the mix. On Wednesday, that value showed up quickly on the field, even in a round-up that also featured several other notable minor league performances.
Harris delivers immediately for Worcester
In Game 2, Harris supplied the biggest single moment of the night for Worcester by clearing the bases with a grand slam. For a player just getting settled in, it was a strong reminder of how quickly a new addition can change the tone of a lineup.
The homer also fits neatly into the broader shape of Worcester's recent roster movement. With Harris now available as another infield piece, the club has added both production and flexibility.
Part of a busy minor league roundup
The same set of games brought other standout moments. Earlier in the game, Hayden Mullins made his first start in Triple-A and walked four batters in three innings. Tyler McDonough also hit a grand slam in the four-run sixth for Worcester.
On Wednesday, Kyson Witherspoon failed to make it through five innings and PJ Labriola allowed eight runs. Salem scored four runs in the first inning, while Cole Tolbert struck out six of the 11 batters he faced.
But the headline moment belonged to Harris. For Worcester, a grand slam in a debut is about as direct a statement as a player can make.
