Katherine Parkinson is back as filming begins on the fourth series of Here We Go. The sitcom has moved into production again, with Tom Basden saying the new run is already shaping up to be the best series yet.
Rachel and the Jessops
Parkinson returns as Rachel, who is graduating and taking her first, faltering steps in political protest. That places her at the centre of a family story built around love, loss, jealousy and disruption, with the Jessop family still carrying the series’ comic load.
Jim Howick and Alison Steadman are back too, alongside Freya Parks, Jude Morgan-Collie, Tori Allen-Martin, Mica Ricketts, Ed Kear and Jon Furlong. The returning line-up gives the production continuity across another full series rather than a one-off pickup, which is usually how a broadcaster signals that a comedy still has enough life in the format to justify the cost of a fresh shoot.
Basden on series four
Tom Basden, who created and stars in the sitcom, said: “Working with such an incredible comedy cast is a pleasure and a privilege so I’m thrilled to be bringing Here We Go back to the for a fourth time. We’ve only just started shooting but it’s already shaping up to be the best series yet!”
The production is a Studios Comedy production for iPlayer and One, with Studios handling global sales. All previous episodes are already available to watch on iPlayer, which gives the new series a built-in catch-up route before the next run arrives.
iPlayer and One
Here We Go is a BAFTA-winning sitcom, and the decision to keep the ensemble intact suggests the is backing familiarity over reinvention. That is a pragmatic call: viewers who know the Jessop family get another series with the same cast, while the production gets a cleaner launch path across iPlayer and One.
What comes next is straightforward for viewers: further information about the series will be released in due course, and the new episodes will arrive with Rachel’s graduation story, Paul’s messy painting and decorating, Robin’s property gamble, Cherry juggling baby Atlas and Make-Up Artist work, Amy trying to find a fresh start, Sue losing sleep and making a lethal home-brew, and Sam there to catch the fallout in close-up.
