The 35-year-old made the decision after more hospital scans and said the latest setback helped him realize it was time to walk away. Woffinden was injured in a crash at Polish club Ostrow on May 24, following serious injuries he suffered in Krosno in March 2025.

A career built on world titles

Woffinden is Great Britain’s most successful speedway rider and Britain’s first and only triple world champion. He made his Speedway GP debut in 2010, returned to the series in 2013 and won the Speedway GP World Championship that year before adding more world titles in 2015 and 2018.

He also helped Great Britain win FIM Speedway of Nations World Championship gold in Manchester in 2021. In his retirement announcement, Woffinden said that when he looks back, he sees five world titles, GP victories, national titles and team championships.

What Woffinden said next

Woffinden described the decision as difficult, saying the sport had been a huge part of who he is for many years. He also said he felt proud, grateful and at peace with the decision after giving everything his body had to give.

His message also focused on the people around him. He thanked his family, said Faye meant so much to him, and paid tribute to mechanics, teams, sponsors, managers and supporters who followed his journey.

With racing now behind him, Woffinden said it is time for a new chapter, new adventures and more time with the people that matter most. His music career may keep him in the spotlight, but his racing career has now reached its end.
