The Tampa Bay Rays are turning July into a celebration of Evan Longoria, and Longo's Legacy Weekend is the centerpiece. From July 10-12, the club will honor Longoria for his Hall of Fame induction and number retirement, giving the weekend a significance that goes beyond a normal homestand.
The schedule is built around a simple idea: make the tribute feel like an event, not just a ceremony. On July 10, The Devil Rays Deal kicks off and Longo's Legacy Weekend begins. On July 11, the first 10,000 fans will receive an Evan Longoria Snapback Hat sponsored by Union Home Mortgage. On July 12, the first 10,000 attendees will receive an Evan Longoria Bobblecard sponsored by DEX.
What fans can expect on Friday home games
The Rays also said the promotion will run on Friday home games through the regular season’s conclusion. That adds another layer to the tribute, with game-day perks that include a $10 Devil Rays Deal, a 12-ounce beer for $5, Burst Bucks, Rays Wallet, discounted beer, and expanded seating tied to the July 10-12 weekend.
There is a practical side to all of this, too. Giveaways and discounts help create a fuller ballpark atmosphere, but they also underline how central Longoria remains to the franchise’s identity. This is not just about remembering a former player. It is about framing him as part of the organization’s history in a way that fans can see and feel across multiple dates.
That matters because tribute weekends can sometimes feel isolated, like a single pause in the schedule. This one is broader. The Rays have attached Longoria’s honor to Friday home games, folded in special promotions, and built a three-day showcase around the former Tampa Bay Rays star. In doing so, they have turned a recognition into a regular-season feature.
For fans, the message is straightforward: Longoria’s place in team history is no longer being treated as a side note. Longo's Legacy Weekend is designed to make that clear, with July 10-12 serving as the main stage and the rest of the season’s Friday games carrying the tribute forward.
