Ross Brawn returned to the paddock at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone last weekend, his first appearance there since announcing his move into MotoGP. He was on the grid with his wife Jean ahead of the British Grand Prix Sprint race.
Brawn, 71, joined the board of directors of Pramac Racing in May and acts as a strategic adviser to Paolo Campinoti. Since then, the team has added 20 points across four races after sitting on six points when he was appointed.
Silverstone and Ross Brawn
His presence at Silverstone comes after almost four years away from his previous Formula 1 role, which ended at Formula 1 Management at the end of 2022. He was last involved directly in Formula 1 in February 2025, when he attended F1 75 in London.
Brawn has largely kept his distance from Formula 1 since stepping down, yet he was back among the teams at Silverstone. That makes his return more than a routine paddock stop: it places him again inside the setting where his name still carries weight, while his current work is now tied to MotoGP through Pramac Racing.
Pramac Racing in May
At Pramac, the role is defined rather than ceremonial. Brawn sits on the board and advises Campinoti, which gives him a formal link to a team outside Formula 1 while keeping him close to race-weekend decisions.
The broader question is why he chose the British Grand Prix this weekend. The appearance at Silverstone showed the shift clearly, but his next Formula 1 or MotoGP outing has not been set out.
