Mardy Fish takes four-point lead at American Century Championship, moves closer to third title

Mardy Fish took control of the American Century Championship on Saturday at Edgewood Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, building a four-point lead and moving into position for his third title.

Fish reached 52 points with one round remaining after a 25-point day. The celebrity golf tournament has drawn former tennis, hockey, basketball and golf figures, and the leaderboard tightened behind him as the final round approached.

Fish sets the pace

Joe Pavelski moved into second place after a 19-point round, leaving him four points behind Fish. Annika Sorenstam was third at 47 points, while Stephen Curry stood fourth with 41 points.

The tournament uses a points format, and Fish’s Saturday performance gave him the edge going into the last round. That matters because the American Century Championship has a history of star finishes, and Curry, the 2023 winner, remained within reach if the final round produced a big swing.

With one round left, Fish was in the best position to close out the week and add another American Century Championship title to his record.
