It also puts Robert Downey Jr. in the frame as Doctor Doom, while Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson Captain America is present but not positioned as the obvious lead.

The image gives Marvel its first official assembly shot for Avengers: Doomsday and shows the company leaning on familiar names before any full-scale trailer. Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson Captain America, Doctor Doom, The Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts characters, Thor, Ant-Man, Shang-Chi, Shuri and M’Baku all appear in the art, which is a clearer signal of the film’s lineup than a teaser cut would be this early.
Channing Tatum’s Gambit also appears, extending the crossover into FOX X-Men territory. That matters because the cast art is doing more than advertising one film: it is mapping how Marvel wants the audience to read the hierarchy across four Avengers movies of history, with returning faces, new cornerstones, and legacy characters sharing the same frame.

Anthony Mackie’s presence as Sam Wilson Captain America matters because the source says Marvel does not trust that version of Captain America to lead the film after Brave New World.
