Andy Park’s Marvel Doomsday cast illustration on Instagram gives the first official look at the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers and the X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday. Park said the piece was “a beast to paint,” and called it a record of his journey through the film’s production.
Park’s first official reveal
Park said, “It was truly an honor, and I was grateful to commemorate that journey with this marketing illustration which officially reveals, for the first time, the characters and their looks in the film.” He also wrote “part of the journey is the end.” and “And what a journey it has been,” in the post. That makes the artwork more than a promo image: it is the first sanctioned visual reference for three major groups in the film.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production, and an official trailer has not been released yet. That leaves the illustration as the clearest look at how the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers and the X-Men are being presented before the Dec. 18 release date.
Marvel Studios after 16 years
Park left Marvel Studios after 16 years as part of Disney's layoff, which gives this post extra weight inside the franchise’s visual history. As Marvel Studios’ former director of visual development, he is the sort of artist whose work helps set the look of these films before audiences ever see a frame.
