Zahara Jolie-Pitt has cleared another legal step toward changing her name to Zahara Marley Jolie, after publishing the required notice for four consecutive weeks. Court documents dated Monday, July 13, show the process moving forward ahead of a September 28 hearing.

The notice appeared in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four straight weeks, giving anyone who wants to object a chance to do so before a judge reviews the request. That is the part of California's name-change process that turns a private filing into a public one, and it is the reason the matter is still on the calendar weeks after the April 28 filing.

Zahara first filed on April 28, 2026, to change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. She was already using Zahara Marley Jolie in 2024 when she was initiated into her sorority at Spelman College, and she was called to the stage in May at Spelman as Zahara Marley Jolie. The legal paper trail has now caught up with the name she was already using in public.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

The filing also fits a broader pattern among Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's children. Shiloh filed to remove the surname when she turned 18 in 2024, Maddox made the same request in May 2026, Knox reportedly began using only the Jolie surname, and Vivienne appeared as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders.

For Zahara, the next step is simple but decisive: a judge is scheduled to consider the request on September 28. Whether the request is granted then is the part that still matters, because the notice period only gets her to the hearing; it does not finish the name change on its own.
