KSAT Weather Authority meteorologist Justin Horne said flood warnings were posted this morning for large portions of the Highway 90 area and into the Hill Country as heavy rainfall west of San Antonio increased again. Another round of heavy rain was expected to move north into the area later this morning, keeping the risk active through tonight.
Horne said KSAT meteorologists were monitoring river levels because they had only reached minor flood stage so far. He said the levels could change rapidly, and people along rivers and creeks were told to remain vigilant.
Frio, Medina, Uvalde Counties
The heaviest rain was over Frio, Medina and Uvalde Counties, where rain coverage was increasing across the viewing area. Horne said severe weather was developing within the rain activity, with strong winds and rotation possible.
That setup left a wide stretch from San Antonio westward under a changing threat. The flood risk remained in place from San Antonio and points west through tonight, and Horne said torrential rainfall and flooding could happen at any point.
San Antonio this morning
More activity was expected to develop around San Antonio this morning, even as a decrease in activity was likely this afternoon. The question for people in the warning area is not whether the rain will ease later, but how much additional rainfall falls before the threat breaks tonight.
KSAT said more heavy rainfall could develop Wednesday night into Thursday morning, while drier weather was expected by Saturday and Sunday.
