Manchester United will turn their attention towards Crysencio Summerville this summer if Marcus Rashford leaves Old Trafford, with a fee of around £30m being mentioned for the West Ham winger.
The report adds another layer to an already unsettled situation around Rashford. The Manchester United forward is expected to start the season at Old Trafford, but his future remains in the balance, and the club are already lining up possible alternatives if that changes.
Why Summerville is being linked
West Ham's relegation to the Championship has made the club open to selling Summerville for the right price. That is the key reason United are now being linked with the 24-year-old, who could fill a left-sided attacking role if Rashford moves on.
The timing also matters. This week, Manchester United signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for a combined initial £82m, but they are still looking for a third midfielder. The reported targets in that area each come with asking prices of £60m-£80m, which makes Summerville a more manageable option if the club decide to strengthen other areas as well.
What it means for Manchester United
For now, Rashford is still part of the picture. He joined Aston Villa on loan for six months in January 2025, and before that he joined Barcelona for all of last season, so his situation has already involved several possible moves. Even with that background, the report says United expect him to begin the season at Old Trafford.
Still, the fact that the club are preparing for the possibility of a departure is telling. If Rashford does leave, Summerville would give Manchester United a direct replacement option at a lower cost than the midfield names they are also tracking. In a summer where fees are rising quickly, that kind of flexibility could shape the rest of their window.
