Sullivan's Crossing Season 5 CW is now set: The CW finalized a renewal for 10 episodes, with Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray returning for another run. The series keeps its first-window U.S. home on the network and now has a 2027 premiere on the board.
Roma Roth on Season 5
The renewal gives Sullivan’s Crossing a cleaner runway than many serialized dramas get after a strong streaming bump. Roma Roth, who created the series from Robyn Carr’s books, said, "I could not be more excited that Sullivan’s Crossing will be returning for its fifth season," and added, "From the beginning, my goal was to create a long-running series that would resonate deeply with a global audience, and I’m thrilled that our fans have supported us every step of the way."
She also said, "I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished alongside our valued partners, crew, and cast and remain committed to guiding the series as we continue to build on our success with Season 5." That matters because the show is moving ahead with continuity at the top even as the creative chair shifts: Floyd Kane will serve as the new Head Writer in Season 5.
Netflix lift, CW hold
Season 4 reached #6 on Netflix’s English series chart globally in its opening week with 3 million views, after the Season 4 finale aired on June 22 and the season arrived on Netflix on June 30. The show’s U.S. audience also widened last summer when Netflix launched the first three seasons, giving The CW a title with a larger on-ramp than a typical broadcast pickup.
The series has been running in a rare two-network pattern: CTV and Crave renewed it in Canada more than a month before the CW pickup, while The CW has kept the first-window U.S. rights since Season 1. For the network, that keeps a proven drama in place without resetting the brand or the cast pipeline.
Scott Patterson shift
Season 4 was the first installment without original co-lead Scott Patterson, and there are no current plans for him to return in Season 5 in a significant way. That leaves the next season built around the existing lead pair and the creative reset around Kane, rather than a cast-driven reversal.
Season 5 is scheduled to start production in Nova Scotia later this summer, and the 2027 premiere gives the production enough time to move from renewal to delivery without compressing the rollout. For viewers, the practical takeaway is simple: the series is not just continuing, it is being extended with a full episode order and a longer horizon for the next chapter.
