Swatch launches Mission To The Moon 1969 at CHF 500 — Omega Swatch Moonswatch

Swatch launched the Omega Swatch Moonswatch Mission To The Moon 1969 at 09:32 AM EDT, pricing the limited edition at CHF 500. The release gives buyers a numbered model marked x/1969 and adds another watch to the line that Swatch has expanded since 2022.

Mission To The Moon 1969

The new watch carries reference SSX01B700 and takes its design cues from the Speedmaster Professional “Tribute to Astronauts” from 1969 and its 2019 anniversary edition. Swatch tied the debut to the same time marker as the Saturn V rocket lift-off from the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, using the launch time as part of the watch’s presentation.

The watch is sold as a MoonSwatch, but it is built around details usually associated with Omega heritage. Swatch says it used actual gold from Omega spare parts to create Moonshine Gold, then recycled that material in its own foundry into 18K Moonshine Gold for the new edition.

Moonshine Gold and CHF

Each watch contains 11 grams of the alloy, and Swatch lists the dial, crown and pushers in 18K Moonshine Gold. The dial is vertically brushed and engraved with the Au750 gold hallmark, while the case back battery cover carries a gold Moon and the date of the lunar landing, with “Mission To The Moon” printed below.

The number on the case side is the main purchase detail for collectors. The x/1969 marking links the release to the 1969 reference point and makes each piece individually numbered, while the CHF 500 price places it well above the regular CHF 48 MoonSwatch entry point and closer to the premium positioning Swatch is using for this edition.

MoonSwatch since 2022

Swatch’s MoonSwatch launch in 2022 was described as one of the watch industry’s most successful moves, and the company has released several variations since then. Mission To The Moon 1969 pushes that formula further by pairing a limited-edition numbering system with metal sourced through Omega-linked material and a retail price designed to separate it from the standard line.

For buyers, the practical takeaway is simple: this is a numbered, limited release with a fixed CHF 500 price and no stated sale window in the launch details. Collectors who want this variant have one clear marker to watch for on the watch itself — x/1969 — and one clear obstacle, the premium price Swatch set for a MoonSwatch carrying Moonshine Gold details.
