Polizia locale di Arcisate carried out an arrest-linked immigration stop near Tigros in Arcisate, then sent one man to the Centro di permanenza per il rimpatrio of Gradisca d'Isonzo. The action followed plainclothes checks on a car with two South American citizens on board.
Officers stopped the vehicle during extraordinary services for the contrast to predatory crimes and territorial control. After the stop, the driver was taken to the Questura di Varese for fingerprinting and further checks by the Ufficio Immigrazione.
Check near Tigros in Arcisate
The Polizia locale of Arcisate worked in plainclothes and used an unmarked car. Near the Tigros supermarket, officers noticed a car with two South American citizens, stopped it, and identified its occupants. Both men had police records for crimes against property, including theft, fraud, and receiving stolen goods. The car they were using was rented and was wanted for embezzlement.
Public prosecutors on duty were informed of the stop. That sequence turned a routine road check into an immigration procedure for the driver, while the second man was treated differently under the same stop.
Questura di Varese and Cpr
Checks at the Questura di Varese showed that the driver was subject to an expulsion decree ordering him to leave the national territory within seven days. He had never complied with that order. After the procedures, the Polizia locale took him directly to the Cpr of Gradisca for repatriation procedures provided by law.
The second man checked was found to be regularly present on the national territory, and no immigration measures were adopted against him. That split outcome is the practical result of the same stop: one person left the checkpoint in ordinary administrative position, the other moved into detention for removal procedures.
Andrea Odoni and future controls
Andrea Odoni thanked the agents of the Polizia locale di Arcisate, the Questura di Varese, the Ufficio Immigrazione, the municipal administration, and the Polizia locale di Lavena Ponte Tresa for their collaboration.
