Saquon Barkley’s home in Malvern was burglarized early Saturday morning, according to police.
Tredyffrin Township police said officers were called at about 5:10 a.m. Saturday to reports of a burglary in progress. By the time police arrived, the burglars had fled.
Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said the Barkley family was not injured during the incident. In a statement, he said, “We are incredibly grateful that the Barkley family was not injured during this incident.”
Police said Saturday that no arrests had been announced and the investigation was ongoing. Authorities also believed there was no ongoing threat to the community.
For Barkley, the incident adds an off-field concern around a player whose profile with the Eagles is already high. The immediate focus, though, was on the safety of the family and the active police response.
Investigators were still looking into the burglary and what may have led to the suspects fleeing before officers arrived. For now, the key update is straightforward: Barkley’s family was unharmed, no arrests had been made, and police were continuing the case.
