The postponed game will now be played at 9:35 a.m. PT, with the nightcap set for 4:20 p.m. PT. Before the delay, Saturday’s game was slated for Fox and Sunday night’s game for NBC, but the revised schedule shifts the series into an earlier start and a long day of baseball in New York.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto moves up for the opener
The pitching plan also changed with the new schedule. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was originally lined up to start Sunday’s game, but he was moved into the early game of the doubleheader after the postponement.
That gives the Dodgers a new look for the series finale after Friday’s opener at Yankee Stadium was televised by SportsNet LA. The rainout is the first of the season for the Dodgers, although they had already seen two road games delayed by weather earlier this year.
One came on April 5, when the Dodgers’ series finale in Washington D.C. against the Nationals started two hours, nine minutes late because of rain. Another followed on June 23, when their game against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field was delayed by 28 minutes.
Now the Dodgers face another weather-related change, this time in one of their most high-profile road series of the season. The good news is that the game will still be played, just on a tighter schedule that puts both clubs in position for a full Sunday doubleheader.
