Dow Gains 0.3% as Djia Today Tracks Big Tech Earnings

DJIA today edged up 0.3% on Monday morning as chip stocks climbed and oil prices reversed earlier gains. Investors are positioning for Big Tech earnings this week, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average moving higher alongside the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite.

Big Tech Names Drive 0.3%

0.3% was the Dow Jones Industrial Average's gain, while the S&P 500 added 0.5% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose almost 0.8%. The move points to buying in shares tied to AI and semiconductors before quarterly results from Alphabet, Intel Corporation, IBM, and Tesla.

Brent Crude Nears $90

$90 a barrel marked the level Brent crude futures touched before the latest pullback, but the contract remained well below its April and May peaks. Oil prices reversed gains on Monday after rising on renewed tensions, a shift that eased one pressure point on stocks even as the broader Middle East backdrop stayed tense.

US and Iran Exchange Pressure

Ninth straight day attacks over the weekend kept traders focused on the US and Iran, after Iran retaliated by bombing US allies in the region, primarily Kuwait. Iran said diplomatic exchanges with the US would continue via mediators, leaving the market to weigh whether the latest oil move reflects a short-lived spike or a wider risk premium that can return fast.

Almost 0.8% in the Nasdaq Composite and 0.5% in the S&P 500 suggest the market is leaning toward earnings strength rather than panic. If the quarterly results from Alphabet, Intel Corporation, IBM, and Tesla land above expectations this week, that bid in the Dow and chip stocks can extend; if they miss, Monday's advance can fade just as quickly.
