Ford Lincoln Aviator recall: Ford is recalling 387,911 2020-2027 Aviator and 2020-2026 Explorer vehicles because the easy-entry second-row outer seat switch may bind or stick. The seats may unlatch, tip, or slide unexpectedly. Ford says owners will first get interim letters on July 27.
The company’s plan starts with notices, then moves to repairs once the remedy is available, which Ford anticipates in January 2027. Owners can check Vehicle Identification Numbers through NHTSA and contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
Ford 26S52 notice
Ford’s number for the recall is 26S52, and it expands Recall 25V393. Dealers will inspect and replace the bezel around the switch as necessary free of charge. The affected vehicles are 2020-2027 Aviator and 2020-2026 Explorer models.
The recall reaches well beyond a routine notice because the defect involves a seat mechanism that can move on its own after the switch binds or sticks. For an owner, that means the first step is not a repair appointment but waiting for the letter that tells them their vehicle is included and what Ford will cover.
Ford 26S54 notice
Ford is also recalling 288,314 2016-2019 Explorer vehicles because the roof rail covers may come loose and detach from the vehicle. Dealers will inspect the roof rail covers and, as necessary, repair or replace the push-pins, rail clips, or roof rail covers free of charge.
That recall uses Ford’s number 26S54 and expands previous National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall number 21V316. Interim letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 24, and additional letters are anticipated once the remedy is available in September.
Owners of the recalled vehicles have one immediate task: watch for the mailed notice, then use the letter or Vehicle Identification Numbers search to see whether their vehicle is listed. Until the remedy arrives, Ford’s notices set the timetable for what happens next.
