Devonte Wyatt and the Green Bay Packers agreed to terms on a three-year, $57 million extension on Monday, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
The deal gives Green Bay a clearer future at defensive tackle and keeps Wyatt under contract beyond the final year of his rookie deal. The extension also includes a $20 million signing bonus, a strong signal that the Packers view him as a key part of the defensive front.
Why the extension matters
Wyatt was selected in the first round in 2022 and has steadily built his résumé over four seasons. He has played in 57 games and recorded 16 sacks, production that makes him a meaningful piece for a Packers defense looking for stability inside.
At 28, Wyatt is at a stage where contract certainty matters for both sides. For the Packers, the extension avoids letting a starting-caliber defensive tackle play out the end of his rookie contract. For Wyatt, it locks in a long-term commitment and rewards the work he has put in since entering the league.
The new agreement also shows how teams often handle players who become reliable contributors before reaching free agency. Rather than waiting for the market to decide the price, Green Bay moved to secure Wyatt now and keep an important interior defender in place.
