Powerball UK ticket sales begin Tuesday in the United Kingdom, and Wednesday night’s drawing will be the first open to U.K. players. The expansion gives them access to the Powerball jackpot for the first time, but tickets bought in the U.K. will not count toward lower-tier prizes.
The jackpot odds remain 1 in 292.2 million for both U.S. and U.K. players. Powerball tickets require five white-ball numbers from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 to 26, and drawings will continue on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
April agreement with Allwyn UK
The change follows an agreement announced in April between the Multi-State Lottery Association in the U.S. and Allwyn UK. It makes this the first time a lottery outside the U.S. contributes to the Powerball jackpot, extending the pool beyond the 45 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands where the game is already played.
For U.K. players, the practical difference is narrow but immediate: they can enter for the jackpot, but they will not be in the lower-tier prize structure. That keeps the game tied to the headline prize while leaving smaller wins out of the U.K. launch.
Powerball and EuroMillions jackpots
Powerball jackpots will be paid over 30 years, and the advertised amount in the United Kingdom will differ from the U.S. figure because of currency conversion and the way U.S. prizes are advertised before tax. The largest Powerball payout came in 2022 from a ticket bought in California, when the top prize was just over $2 billion.
EuroMillions reached its maximum of 250 million euros for players from France, Ireland and Austria over the course of 2025. The comparison shows the scale of the new U.K. offer: Powerball gives U.K. players access to a jackpot pool built on much larger headline prizes than those usually available in the United Kingdom and Europe.
Wednesday night’s drawing
The first test for U.K. players arrives with Wednesday night’s drawing, when their entries will count for the jackpot for the first time. The opening week puts the new sales channel into use immediately, while the lower-tier prize restriction means the launch is aimed at the top prize rather than the full range of Powerball payouts.
