Sheffield United came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town 3-1 in a behind-closed-door friendly at Shirecliffe on Tuesday afternoon, using the match as a useful pre-season test after a very early setback.
Huddersfield made the brighter start and were ahead inside three minutes when Jay Sway scored, giving the visitors an early lead and forcing Sheffield United to respond quickly in a low-profile fixture that still offered a clear look at the team's attacking options.
Wilder changes the game at half-time
Chris Wilder made his first half-time change by replacing Sydie Peck with Jairo Riedewald, and Sheffield United looked stronger after the restart. The equaliser arrived just after the hour mark when Tom Cannon converted a penalty to level the match at 1-1.
From there, Sheffield United took control. Sam McCallum struck from around 25 yards to put his side in front, before Tahith Chong added a third seven minutes later to seal the 3-1 comeback win.
The result will not count in the league table, but it does give Sheffield United a straightforward pre-season benchmark. After going behind so early, the response was the main positive, with goals coming from different parts of the side and the team showing enough control to turn the game around.
