When is the Love Island finale for Love Island UK season 13? Maya Jama says the answer comes with a twist: there will be a different format for the final as the summer run winds down in the Mallorca villa.
The host told Deadline there’s going to be a different format for the final, giving viewers of Love Island UK a season-ending change without spelling out the mechanics. Love Island UK also streams on Hulu in the United States, so the shift affects an audience that follows the show beyond ITV2.
Mallorca to the final
Love Island UK is wrapping up its summer season in the Mallorca villa, and Jama said she has already been in the villa a couple more times as the series gets close to the end. That makes the final-format change immediate, not theoretical, because the show is already moving into its last stretch.
Jama said she is on standby for the whole two months, with producers usually deciding about a week before, sometimes four days before, whether they want her in the villa. That last-minute setup explains why her appearances can spike near the finish line instead of staying evenly spread through the run.
Jama’s villa role
Jama said she was upset about her limited time in the villa this season. “I was actually upset myself,” she said. “Hey, I’m ready. Put me in.” The production team’s answer, in her words, was blunt: “We don’t actually need you in here yet.”
That friction is part of the job she has made for herself. “Love Island knew who I was when they employed me, and I’ve never been just like a straight read-the-script-down-the-line presenter,” Jama said, adding that she treats Islanders as human beings when they are falling in love, falling out of love, and arguing. “The editors can take it out if they want, but I will always add a bit of a human aspect.”
Billboards and the audience
Jama also said the show’s visibility has moved far beyond the villa. “It’s been amazing. I get sent photos of those billboards, which is wild to be honest,” she said, adding that friends in America have told her, “Look! There’s your big head next to Kim Kardashian.” She said she has also seen messages from fans on social media from places including Wisconsin: “I love you from Wisconsin.”
For viewers, the practical takeaway is simple: the finale will not follow the standard shape they have been used to, and Jama is already signaling that the show is changing how it closes out season 13. The one thing still missing is the exact structure of that final episode, and that is now the detail to watch as Love Island UK heads into its finish.
