Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took Archie and Lilibet to Althorp, bringing Diana, Princess Of Wales into the center of a private family visit during their recent European vacation. Meghan later shared several photos from the trip on The Instagram, including one captioned Summer Holiday.
The images show Lilibet, 5, walking the grounds with what appears to be a tiny handbag and a blanket. Harry, 41, and Archie, 7, are pictured just ahead of her, each carrying what seem to be bouquets of flowers.
Althorp and Oval Lake
The family were invited to Althorp by Charles Spencer, who still owns the estate and lives there with Cat Jarman. One photo appears to show Meghan Markle, 44, reclining on a sun lounger beside the pool while cuddling Mamma Mia, the family’s Beagle.
According to People, the Sussexes may also have visited Diana’s burial site on an island in the middle of Oval Lake. Charles Spencer said the decision to lay Princess Diana to rest at Althorp was made so her grave could be looked after by her family and visited in privacy by her sons, William and Harry.

Spencer told the that he was worried about where Diana could safely be buried because there was such a whipped-up feeling of emotion everywhere. He added to People: “I think it’s very important for them to be there with her.” He also said: “It is, luckily, very tranquil here, and they can come and go as they wish whenever they want. And that’s very lovely for me to know that.”
The burial site is not accessible to the public, although another memorial on the grounds gives visitors a place to pay respects to Princess Diana. The visit also follows the family’s time in Portugal before the trip to the U.K., and Harry had earlier been expected to travel to London alone after plans changed around taxpayer-funded security and the one-year countdown to the next Invictus Games.
