North Wales Police are continuing their search for Simon and Connor after the two men were last seen on Tuesday evening near hafan y mor, Pwllheli, while believed to be heading towards the coast with inflatable kayaks. The search was launched after they disappeared close to a Haven holiday park on the Llyn Peninsula.
At 12.19pm on Thursday 23 July, HM Coastguard was called to assist North Wales Police with a search for two overdue kayakers at Pwllheli, North Wales. Coastguard Rescue Teams from Criccieth, Abersoch and Llandwrog, RNLI lifeboats from Criccieth and Abersoch, an HM Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter and a Coastguard aeroplane were sent to help.
Hafan-y-Mor search operation
Extensive searches were carried out across the area after the call came in. Haven said it was assisting the police with their search, and the operation brought together police, Coastguard teams and RNLI crews as they worked to trace the men last seen near the beach close to Hafan-y-Mor, Pwllheli.
North Wales Police update
The Coastguard search was stood down at around 10.21pm on Thursday 23 July pending further information after extensive searches found no trace of the missing people. North Wales Police later said on Friday that the two men remained missing and searches were continuing.
For anyone on the Llyn Peninsula who comes across inflatable kayaks or other items linked to the men, the practical step is to pass that information to North Wales Police so it can be checked against the ongoing search. Simon was last seen near the beach close to Hafan-y-Mor, and that remains the point from which investigators are working.
