Abubakar Vagaev enters his Octagon debut as a genuine test case rather than a soft introduction, with the former two-time ACA welterweight champion set to meet Saygid Izagakhmaev at UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi. It is a matchup that should tell us plenty about both men: Vagaev’s all-round game against Izagakhmaev’s elite Dagestani grappling.
The numbers also suggest a competitive fight. Vagaev is 24-4 and unbeaten in the UFC at 0-0, while Izagakhmaev comes in at 22-3 overall and 0-1 in the UFC after his split-decision loss to Nicolas Dalby in November 2025.
